I woke up this morning and this was my first thought-on a Sunday morning. I am lucky enough to be heading out to the beach and enjoying the sunshine and carefree days of summer, however this is really what is nudging and tugging my heart and brain- there is a disproportionate amount of prejudice, among us, surrounding us in everyday life. This may be a comedic MEME, from a memorable movie- but we and I mean each of us need to do something to right it- no matter how small or large, or in between. Just do something everyday. Collectively we can change.

GRAND GESTURES
Grand Gestures-
Can get you noticed, but sometimes it’s the smaller, less obvious notes that mean the most. Everyone feels pressured at this time of year to get the best gift, to shop and get that perfect something, to have the best tree, to entertain and be the perfect hostess or host. Let’s face it - most of us are not superheroes… and doing it all is just not going to happen. So relax , do the best you can. Forget about the BIG GESTURES FOR ALL. Give It to the smaller and more meaningful notes of kindness and generosity. Pay it forward!
Sometimes you have to get off the Merry GO Round! HAPPY HOLIDAYS
Blazing Summer Get Ready For Fall: Blazers Are Back
Blazers Are Back
How do you tie a look together without looking too stuffy, or too uber trendy? The transition to fall is always a little tricky. The Blazer has made a huge comeback to layer over some wide leg pants; pair with a jeans skirt, or your favorite distressed jeans, or flirty summer dress. I like to pair it with one of my little silk satin pocket squares. It looks fabulous on a little Black or white Blazer-(Yes, white after Labor Day, is a go!) Where it many ways. Another favorite of mine is to always carry a beautiful cashmere scarf. Yes, we know where to find them.

Surrealism and Pop Culture High Brow/Low Brow →
Where does it emanate from and what does it all mean? As an Artist and designer I create to inspire and just to see what I can do. I created a book called Cosmic Beauty using Film Images and Studio photographs and then degrading imagery that were high quality photographs by transferring to my iphone and painting on apps, that I found to be exciting, sometimes I would work for hours just redoing the imagery and then I would further deconstruct by collaging and reworking in photoshop. The layers would add new meaning t my work. I called my art POP Surrealism. The Colors and Textures and 3 D Process Popped and added an ethereal and at the same time surreal quality to my work.
There was an art movement created called low brow art or pop surrealism; I have a hard time putting names to art. I think it fits perfectly in it’s own way.
The term “Pop Surrealism” was coined by The Aldrich Contemporary Art Museum for its 1998 exhibit of the same name. An exhibit of some of my favorite
artists. Gregory Crewdson, Cindy Sherman, Mariko Mori, etc. I am not implying to be in company of this art, but to be inspired by the movement. For lack of what to call my work I thought I coined the phrase. I am influenced by the Surreal quality of imagination that allows freedom of the mind. The colors in my work adding a dimension and 3D push. Water elements are always present in my art.
The New York Times said the exhibit was like water and oil. I like that. From the depth and the shallows. The subconscious and the pop culture can co-exist.
IT’S COSMIC OUT THERE
IT’S COSMIC OUT THERE
Maybe it all began with a “Bang! ” Designers are Bringing the heavenly Stars, Moon and Sun, to Fashion in abundance. They have shown it’s a “Force Of Nature”, and that there is this energy beyond all. The fascination is past and very present- I love the Space Theme! I created a Photo Book called “Cosmic Beauty”, A Grander View - a book about acceptance and the search for truth in Beauty. (Below are some Images)
I don’t know about you- maybe you missed the “Eclipse,” couldn’t find a great pair of “Space Goggles” - but don’t miss out of the trend of the Cosmos…it will make you reach for the Stars! Lending us a twinkle of Imagination Big Time, that is sure to ignite the senses….
Design House Chanel has one of my favorite nail polishes that will make the Holiday season sparkle, or at the very least your nails will have a very shimmery glow… check out the Cosmic Nail Enamel ( A perfect Blue Black, with a shimmery glow) In fact Cosmic was the grand theme of Fall/Winter 2018. I am still feeling the mood of Exploration- Have to “Believe!”

The Power Of The Female Gaze →
The Power of the Female Gaze
Hypnotic and bewildering, a sideward glance that is both furtively powerful and discreet. How can that be? I recently watched the documentary on Princess Diana - “Diana: In Her Own Words”, on The National Geographic Channel - and was reminded of the power of “The Gaze"
Diana was grand and beautiful, but she held a shy sideward gaze that captivated a Prince, A World of Humanity, and The Heart of People. She had you from the start. From the first shy glance. It held mystery, and allure, and promise of a hidden compassion that dwelled beneath. As a photographer, I am always interested in the gaze of my subjects. It reflects a moment of realness. A moment where my subject is at home. One where we meet and separate at the same time. It is the women that I photograph that have an unusual reaction-or look as we say. I have cast and photographed thousand of models for worldwide commercials and print campaigns and they are so use to being sexy in front of the camera when a man is photographing them. When I photograph them, I find that they are more natural and carefree laughing and flirting with the camera itself or imagining who will one day be viewing this image. I take a beat, until I get the reaction I need. The shift of power from photographer to subject changes rapidly. It’s a constant flux. The sexy vibe is there…different. Very different then say, a pose of a model from a shoot with Helmut Newton, Nan Golden, Cindy Sherman, Mario Testino, Bruce Weber, Ellen Von Unworth, Lillian Bassman, Louise Dahl-Wolf (Of course these are exceptional photographers with exceptionally noticeable styles). However it made me think of the intent and the editing of my captures. More importantly it makes me think of The power of the female Gaze.
Our society is so obsessed with photography- no secret..just take a look around. Sexy images abound..however not all are truly sexy in the real sense. Some just fake it. I’ve come to realize that just as I am looking for truth in Art and Beauty..The Beauty of The Female Gaze and power is just that..you can’t fake it. A photo may only capture a portion of truth..but the fragment of true is in the moment.
Fashion and Art Collide →
Fashion and Art Collide
“Why have there been no great women artists?”, a statement written on the DiorT-shirt which debuted in the Paris Fashion Week show by the designer, Chiuri’s Collection - I am certain it will create a style sensation which will trickle down to street style… Which begs the question?
Why is there so much of Art in Fashion? Has there always been this great connect?
First of all - I don’t believe that Art is all about Men. They may have had their fair share of over representation. Gender aside, all is fair in Love, War & Art & Fashion. I do believe we are catching up, or I would like to see more of it happening! Perhaps taking it to the fashionable streets is a sign of change to come.
I started my wearable art on scarves over ten years ago-creating and honing the vision with my own silk screens from my photography and art..until i decided a few years ago to experiment on a broader level with designing and manufacturing. Let's just say I have a strong entrepreneurial drive. Sometimes my friends and fans will look at my work and say“Is that a scarf?” When told they aren’t, there is a look of dismay. My imagery needs to be created into a design and not all of it fits into scarf design..you might just say it collides with the very idea. Then a lightbulb goes off, maybe collision sparks more art; more design & more Fashion & Art.
